Police
search for 2-year-old Bangladeshi girl

Detroit, MI - October 3 - Detroit Police searching
for a missing 2-year-old girl are also desperately searching
for someone who speaks Bengali, the main language of Bangladesh.
An Amber Alert has been issued for Tangena
Hussain, who was last seen at the Marathon gas station at
Greenfield and 8 Mile roads at 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police are having a problem communicating
with the last person to see Tangena, her mothers boyfriend,
whos from Bangladesh, Detroit Police Sgt. Maquis Scott
said this morning. All three live together in Hamtramck,
he added.
We need a Bangladesh interpreter,
Scott said. Were having a language problem,
so were having a hard time communicating with him.
Tangenas mother was at work and her
boyfriend was watching the little girl when she disappeared,
Scott said. The boyfriend told investigators he left Tangena
in the car with the doors locked in the gas station parking
lot while he went inside to make a purchase, but she was
missing when he came back out. A search around the gas station
has proved fruitless, but investigators are focusing on
other areas in the city, Scott said this morning.
Tangena has chin-length black hair, brown eyes, is about
3 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 34 pounds. She has a scar
from a burn on her upper lip and chin. She was wearing a
brown, long-sleeved T-shirt with a cartoon picture on the
front, white nylon cargo pants and gold sandals.
Anyone with information about the little girl or who can
speak Bengali is asked to call the Detroit Police at 313-596-1240.
